Ohhh reallly??

So a friend of mine on facebook made a comment about how the female population who wears leggings needs to start wearing shirts that cover their camel toe...AMEN. This got me thinking of all the fashions that irk me. And here they are....

I can't stand those girls at the mall who have the "Thats right, i just rolled outta bed but look this good" but you have a full face of make up on! Yeah guess what girlies, you didnt fool anyone. We know that while you are wearing sweatpants, uggs and a hoodie, you took 30+mins to flat iron your hair THEN throw it up in a messy ponytail/bun thing AND THEN caked on eyeliner, Mascara, eyeshadow, foundation, AND lip gloss. You may have those pubescent, hormone infested boys fooled but the rest of us see past that "look". So come on, take the extra 5 minutes and actually put on an outfit OR skip the makeup and really just roll out of bed and head to the mall!!

Another "favorite" is the "hi i have 5 teenagers and they help pick out my wardrobe" Guess what mom.... you.are.not.a.teen.period. This means that yes you have to suck it up and stop shopping in the Jrs department, or Debs, or Rainbow. Grow old with class and elegance, you look 100times worse trying to stay trendy. Just admit defeat....no you can not wear leggings, or ponchos, or miniskirts. Embrace Ann Taylor Loft, the Limited, or Christopher Banks. Move on into the Misses, Petites or Womens section. Believe me, you will be so thankful when you look back at pictures.

And finally we come to the "hello my butt cheeks and crotch are juuuust about to pop out of these rediculously short shorts" Yeahhhh, I'm sorry but last time I checked we wore clothes over our underwear not just underwear around. It the inseam on a pair of short is virtually non-existant...its too short. Plus you tiny girls set a poor example for the not so tiny girls who also feel they have the right to sport that terrible style. It does not look good in a size 2 and it definitely does not look good in a size 14. Come on chicas! Here is an idea lets keep it in our pants! And by "it" my mean our cooters!! How about we not show everyone our lady parts.

So people lets TRY to think before we dress, so that we do not end up on this site....

Weddings

So i know i have been slacking. i know. but its tough to write when there isnt much to write about. Well correction, its tough to write when i feel like its bah humbug stuff. No one wants to read depressing blogs. we read for dirt and dishing and cool little tidbits. the last thing someone wants to read is about discouragement and frusteration. But now things are on the up and hopefully my blog tone will reflect that.

Ok so on to my topic.... weddings. Now i fully admit, i am a wedding snob. Yeah i know, im terrible, but the fact that i waited 25 years to get married, I think i have earned the right to critique any and every wedding i attend. And i will preface this by saying, i really do enjoy every wedding i have attended (for the most part). Its a special day for people and I respect that. Well a friend of mine (we shall call her Sophia to protect her identity)just recently went to a wedding and came back and told me details and we were SHOCKED at the similarities between Sophia's wedding and Abby's wedding (the Bride). I don't know, maybe I was reading too much into it when I told Sophia it was rediculous, but the programs were similar, the songs walked down the aisle were the same, the wedding color, the dj, the photographer, even the dessert was similar(ok they were exactly the same). I told Sophia it must have felt like she was at her own wedding. Now am i crazy? isnt it a bit odd? I mean I could understand if Abby hadn't been at Sophias wedding but SHE TOTALLY WAS THERE!!! AND i could understand if Abby had mentioned to Sophia "hey i loved your wedding, im totally taking some of your ideas" BUT COME ON!! to try to pass off all these similarities/exact likenesses as your own, is kinda shadey. Give credit where credit is due, Abby. I say all this because of my wedding snobbery. And like every bride, i feel that my wedding was PER.FECT. ... lol well in my eyes it was. i invited everyone i had wanted, the food was great, the atmosphere was great, the day was overall great. On the flip side, my pet peeve is when brides skimp on their day. Now hold on, i don't mean financially skimp, because not everyone can afford the same budget, but within ones means, to just throw your wedding day together annoys me. This is THE BIGGEST DAY IN YOUR LIFE and to just half-ass it is a slap in the face to weddings everywhere (again its the wedding snobbery coming out - don't hate). Go all out, live your dream out on that one day! And as a last thought to leave you with... next time you are at a wedding, all dressed up, and looking great... lean over to your date and start tearing that wedding apart....HAHA jk, lean over to your date and remember how wonderful your special day was OR how perfect it is going to be!!

Im Back....again :)

So after 8 months of being unemployed i finally get a gigg at company X as a temp. Yeah a temp. thats ok because A. there doesnt seem to be as much pressure because i will leave eventually and B. whats the worst thing that happens? i get let go? been there done that! so far it hasnt been bad, the work hasnt been hard to understand and i feel like i can ask questions if need be without feeling dumb. Everyone here is fairly young and new to this group so again i feel like they know what its like to be the new person. Its still hard to get back into the workforce after being gone so long. i mean it was almost a year! But i will say it was bittersweet. God worked on me so much. Kodak was my arrogance. Unemployment was my humility. God stripped me of all that i had put my comfort in. My job, my money, my status. He removed it and showed me how to lean on him for life. He provided every month and then some. He allowed for a great anniversary, a few parties and a trip to florida. He is so good! Through out the time God gave me a song to cling to. It became my anthem. The astricked lines are my favorite parts:

Blessed Be Your Name

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

***Every blessing You pour out
***I'll turn back to praise
***When the darkness closes in, Lord
***Still I will say

***Blessed be the name of the Lord
***Blessed be Your name
***Blessed be the name of the Lord
***Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name

***Blessed be Your name
***On the road marked with suffering
***Though there's pain in the offering
***Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

***You give and take away
***You give and take away
***My heart will choose to say
***Lord, blessed be Your name

I just love that song. It lays out life so perfectly! Its never going to be easy but through it all I will CHOOSE to praise His name! I will choose to praise the One who has gone before, the One who has my life in HIS hands. Thank you Lord!

Ode to Bikers

Confession: I hate bikers. Not the bad ass, leather clad, bandana wearing mother effers that ride REAL bikes like Harleys or crotch rockets. Noooo im talking about those little effers that ride bicycles! Yeah you know who i mean. The Lance Armstrong wanna be's, the "im pretending im in the Tour De France", the im just an average joe with a gut but im gonna stuff myself into one of those skin tight shirts and spandex shorts. The riding on the white liners when they have 3 feet of SAFE road to ride on. Yes those are the people i am referring to. There is something about seeing people on bicycles that instantly irks me. 2 examples:
1. Now bikers should know that they are considered vehicles therefore ADHERE TO THE VEHICLE RULES!!!!! One being ride WITH traffic not against. Alf and i see this duche bag all dressed up in the skin tight spandex outfits which one would think "hmmm they are real cyclists and know the rules" NOPE he was riding against traffic and yelled at US when we laid on the horn to inform him.

2. Not stopping at the stop signs. BECAUSE you are on a bike doesnt mean that you get to run stop signs. NOPE you must stop just like a car effer. So this little old lady was riding her bike and we get to a four way stop and we were there before she got there so we go but little old bitty looks like she was gonna blow through the stop sign. TRY AGAIN LADY. we went like we were gonna go and ofcourse she thought we were gonna hit her but we stopped and then went, a nice way to "teach" those old dogs a new trick.

Am icrazy? does it not irk anyone else that they have to swerve to give the bike rider more room when they ride on the white line? I mean come on!!! there is so much room between the white line and the grass! Must you push your luck for getting hit by riding so close to the cars? And those people who arent training for something important, dont ride wearing spandex! Just wear shorts and a tshirt!! And dont ride on busy roads! 250, 441, Holt, Lake. FIND A BACK ROAD!! there are plenty of not busy roads for you to "live out a fantasy", lay off the busy streets!!

My Wena

Ok So i was listening to the tv radio stations and this song comes on called "My Wena" (yeah it sounds like weiner but with an A instead of -er) by Bowling for Soup.

The more i listened to the words of the song the more i realized "HOLY CRAP IS THIS ABOUT THE DUDES WEINER!!!???!" And i think it is. i will highlight areas of specific examples....

Her name is Wena.
Hey, have you seen-a?
Everyone says she's amazing.
She gets so jealous,
She sticks her head up
When I'm checkin' out the ladies
. ummm yeah tell me thats not about a boner!
And she needs so much attention
She's always hangin' around. ----> yep thats a limp wang!

My Wena is lonely tonight.
(My Wena)
She cries when I turn out the light
(My Wena)
She's only happy when I'm holdin' her tight ----> come on really?!?
Oh, My Wena.
Take a look at my Wena.

My little Wena,
Queen of the scene
And all the girls wanna be around her
Her skin is so soft,
I can't keep my hands off
--> ARGGG please no more descriptions!!
Ever since the day I found her.
And she'll make your heart beat faster
With the wink of an eye.

My Wena is lonely tonight.
(My Wena)
She cries when I turn out the light
(My Wena)
She's only happy when I'm holdin' her tight
Oh, My Wena.
Have you seen my Wena?
Get a load o' myĆ¢€¦

Sometimes she can't sleep at night
And I wake up and she's just a-lookin' at me
And she snuggles up tight when it's cold outside
She likes to show off when we're walkin' the beach
And she's always up for goin' extra innings
She's a sucker for a happy ending. ---> Come on! REALLY?!
And we may not always agree,
But she's always here with me.

My Wena is lonely tonight.
She cries when I turn out the light
She's only happy when I'm holdin' her tight
My Wena.
(Take a look at my Wena).

My Wena is lonely tonight.
(My wonderful Wena)
She cries when I turn out the light
(She wants to get between ya)
She's only happy when I'm holdin' her tight
Oh, My Wena.
My wonderful Wena.

I hope someone else has heard this and can confirm my Wena suspicions. I mean what is coming next? My Gina?? (as in Va-gina, for you slow ones). Maybe i am just dirty minded and automatically took this song to "that place" and maybe it is really about a girl named Wena but hmmm im guessing that is doubtful and that this song is really about some dude's junk. nice. Soon all the kiddies will be singing about how lonely their Wena's are tonite. LOL

Outting in Review....

Confession: Alfie and I enjoy to eat out...a lot! This means that there are a lot of unusual places that we have tried that not many people may have thought to try. So on suggestion from Christy I will attempt to write a review on the places we go/ have gone. What better way to start then with our 1 Year anniversary. Unfortunately because alfie and i are terrible when it comes to pictures, i did not take any of our special day i know i know...what a terrible newlywed i am. But anyways, on to the blog...
The ratings will be as such:
a double high five: Awesome... must try ASAP
single high five: Great, gotta try it this year!
two thumbs up: Pretty average
single thumbs up: ehhhhh, go if ya gotta
hand shake: not worth it.

So for our big day alfie and i decided to pamper ourselves with manicures and pedicures. We got these from Max Nails in the webster commons plaza. They had a nice deal of $40 bucks for the combo mani/pedi which was just too much of a pampering to turn down. I'd give them two thumbs up. They wont much different than their competition Lovely Nails right across the street. But their manicure did last exactly one week. Then we were off to a quick brunch in pittsford in Schoen Place at the Village Coal Tower, which is about as close to a diner as Pittford can get. It wasnt bad but it wasnt great. We got in at around 11:30ish hoping for some breakfast and barely made the cut off. On the plus side their omelette (spinach and mushroom) tasted super fresh and you could tell they actually used eggs and not some carton egg imposter. I'm certainly not raving so i will give them a thumbs up: go if ya gotta. I dont think i would request this place again but i wouldnt not go if people wanted to go. Prices were pretty resonable. Now on to the double high fives....

The Spa at the Delmonte: AWESOME! We treated ourselves to the couples massage (a bit pricey but worth every penny). We didnt know but were glad we accidentally got their early. They have amazingly relaxing "locker rooms" they call them that but they should really be called Dens of Euphoria. They had a sauna, a shower with 6 shower heads, a full restroom, a changing area with lockers, slippers and robes, a waiting area with tea, coffee, snacks, water AND they went around with chocolate covered strawberries. It was unreal. They do not rush you to leave, you can take as much time as you'd like before and after the massage. The only down fall is that it is separate mens and womens so Alfie and I could not spend time together before or after but it was nice getting all relaxed BEFORE the super ralxing massage. The massage was definitely worth every stinkin penny. It was nice having alfie in the same room even though we were super quiet and didnt even speak during it. After the massage we took about 20 mins to enjoy the showers and sauna in the locker rooms before dinner.

Ahhhh dinner. We ate at One(aka One Ryan Alley). Delicioso!! We started out with the Sweet Chili Glazed Calamari. It came over a bed of spinach and it was great! Exactly as its name describes it, it is sweet and spicy. For those who love calamari it definitely got a double high five! For the entree I got the grilled angus reserve NY strip steak with crispy onion strings and gingered balsamic reduction. YUM-O! for a side i ordered mashed sweet potato. GAG! it was farrrr to sweet for me and tasted way to close to pumpkin for me (which i loathe). Alfie didnt mind it but we agreed that it was more desserty than dinnerish. Alfie ordered the grilled veal porterhouse with maytag blue cheese stuffed olives red pepper coulis, shaved fennel & orange salad. his was tasty and he raved about it quite a bit. His side was unreal: fire roasted asparagas. It was too stinkin good! Over all i would give the dinner and its trendy atmosphere a double high five! Get there ASAP for some celebration. Prices are a bit steep but super worth it for a nice dinner.

Nerd at heart

Confession: Im really a math nerd at heart. Don't be confused by the fashionista exterior, inside is a math loving, calculator toting mathy. I was on facebook today a those creepy ads along the side of the page that somehow know farrrr too much about me popped up with some t-shirts that were of the math persuasion. So i clicked them and low and behold it turned out to be porn. LOL just kidding it really was a math shirt. This was the one that caught my eye on the ad:

For those that don't get that, the square root of negative one is i. So the clever shirt reads i heart math. (christy i know you are loving that shirt. This next one got me chuckling....

I would totally wear something like this. I once saw a shirt that said "i kiss better than i do math" being worn by a math major such as myself, i thought it would say alot about my lip locking skills.

Summer Project 1

Confession: I can be crafty when i want to. Yes folks, i am a closet Martha Stewart. For my first summer project i refurbished a secretaries desk for the kitchen. here are the pictures:
I first attempted to strip it. It was rediculously difficult but i was able to do it:

Then came the primer:

And then the black paint:

Ahhh and now for the finished product:

I think it came out well for a first attempt! My next project is this table set alfie and i found free on the side of the road! i just need to find some funky fabric for the seat covers!

Mr. Ba-donk-a-donk

Question: What determines a date? is it the quantity of people on an outing? is it the intent on secluded time? must both parties determine an outting is a date for it to actually be one? I ask because of a situation (for lack of a better word) that occured a few years ago....

I was interning at Yodak (names have been changed to protect identities...lol) and had a really nice boss: Mr. Ba-donk-a-donk. We got along fine, he was a tad awkward and nerdy but whatever, he did his job and helped me with mine. Wellll Mr. Ba-donk-a-donk, had a sweeeeet BMW convertable and all who know me know I LOVE convertables. Ba-donk-a-donk was also a widower with 3 boys, thus making him single and "ready to mingle". All who have worked at Yodak know that the average age of employees is 45+ and here i am a swaggering 24 year old with giant ta-tas. Anyways, Ba-donk-a-donk thought it would be nice to take me to lunch as a new hire. No biggie, we walked across the street to a restaurant and had lunch. Ok, no prob right? Well halfway through the summer Ba-donk-adonk, myself and a secretary went to a burger place then down to Abbotts by Charlotte and got ice cream to go, we took Ba-donk-a-donks mini van. Again, no biggie. Well then at the end of summer as a goodbye lunch, Ba-donk-a-donk took me out to lunch (no worries since we had gone before). This time he had driven his two person BMW convertable to work so we could take that on our lunch to the Schallers by Charlotte and after a burger and shared fries (yes i know we shared), he suggested ice cream. So we drive down towards the pier and he is showing me the GPS in his car and how snazzy and great the car is. Whatever... So we grab our ice cream and HEEEEEE suggests a walk down the peir while we eat our dessert. Again no biggie to me. So we finally get back to the office and i go home and I share this outting with Christy and she is like "Ummm that was a date!" lol noooo it was NOT a date... even years later, I did not think it qualifies as a date but every time i mention this such outtting Christy brings up how date-like it is, and i guess it could be seen as a date but then again, if a date is only one sided is it truly a date or merely an older man getting jollies out of being seen with a young hot stuff OR was he just being friendly? Would your answer change if i mentioned he tried to kiss me? LOL just kiddding. I added that for dramatic affect. There was NO contact or attempt at contact. Just what i saw was an innocent lunch and ice cream or was it in his eyes a lunch date? I guess i'll never know.

The search for the perfect vacation...

Confession: i am a picky vacationer. Now you ask me that in person and i am sure i would deny it and exclaim how flexible i am in vacationing, but the honest truth is that i am not. I like sun, beaches and warm weather! I want to be out doing something i wouldnt normally be doing at home. Dont get me wrong, i can be haaaapppy on most vacations but my ideal vacationing is the beachy, sunny, warm spot! Having said that, alfie and i went to the Adirondaks this past weekend with his family. Overall i'd give it a B+. It was fun and relaxing, but after mannnny years of vacationing, i have trained myself into a routine that when tampered with equates to grumpiness. The routine is: wake up early, grab a quick breakfast then hit the pool by 9 or 10am. layout and enjoy swimming and reading or relaxing until lunch. Then shower and change for shopping or sightseeing til dinner, then after dinner going out somewhere to people watch or just walk around. As you can see its pretty relaxed and filled with things (other than shopping) that i wouldnt normally get to do at home. But on this trip we did a lot of staying in doors, and watching NASCAR, (Yes, Christy, NASCAR) which was kinda bumming because we had lake front property so the water was right out front! I, along with Harry, Hermoine and Ron, took our Half Blood Prince adventure to the chairs on the dock by the water and enjoyed some wonderful reading, sun, breezes and a view like this:

I was amazed at how far i got in my book!! We also went into town one night for gelato (which i can not have, so i settled on a guava sorbet which was yummy). And the day we left we finally went into Old Forge and did some walking around and go-karting and bumperboating. If it was my vacation planning, i would have spent zero time inside and all the time outside because the weather was nice, but to each his own i guess....We did enjoy lots of time with our neice and nephews! Uncle Alfie was thrilled with the unlimited Annah time:

Overall, this was MUCH better than camping but not quite a great vacation :) but still fun with family!

Hello again!

Sooo its been a while since I have posted. Unfortunately still unemployed but God is faithful and I know he has something for me in His time. Its just the waiting that is frusterating! lol but anyways... whats been new with me... Well first off I got to go to the PXY summer jam with susan, lauren and shauna!

It was crazzzzzy packed and not everyone who won tickets was allowed in, cause the space was farrr too small! But it was still a fun time (even though we left early).

Hmmm what else? Oh we put up a pool! Not a real inground or above ground one but one of those that inflate. This one is hardcore! its 25ft diameter and gets 4ft deep....thats a good enough pool for me!! Ohh good story.... so we set the pool up on last friday and it took all day saturday and sunday and part of monday to fill. Well i was out looking at the pool on monday and there was this little plug thing on the bottom of the outside of the pool. So i nudged it with my toe... then poked it... then water started POURING out of it. Mind you it was probably in the 50's that day. So water is pouring out of the poool and im freaking out because i didnt know how to go about fixing it. Then it dawned on me: I'm gonna have to fix it by getting into the pool. crap. So cursing my curiosity on the darn plug I ran into the house to throw on my bathing suit and grab a towl and my robe and ran back down to the pool. Now by monday the pool was pretty well full so it was about 3ft deep and we hadnt quite gotten the ladder nor a solar cover to warm the water! SO now i had to figure out how the heck i was going to get into this freezing cold pool!! With a moment of genious I grabbed 2 plastic deck chairs and put one in the pool and the other outide and stepped from one to the other inorder to climb in. HOLY COLDNESS!! so now im in the pool and realize 3ft is longer than my arm length and homegirl is NOT going under the water! luckily all i had to do was push the plug and i was able to do that with my foot. Thank God for strong toes! Now it still has a small bit of water coming out of the plug cause i couldnt shut it all the way but that should do for now and im not worried that it will drain out the entire pool!

Anything else new? I went to florida with mom! Dad took pity on my state of employment and blessed me with the flight! Mom and i had a great time! It was nice and warm all week and although it rained every day (only for about 1hr or in the evenings) we were able to score some serious sun tans! This was my view from the lounge chair by the pool:

Ohh alfie and i had our first major picnic of the summer!! it was great. we had about 30-40 ppl come through at some point during the day. it was memorial weekend and i think we are going to plan it annually! should be a lot of fun... but now that we got the pool set up maybe we will do an end of summer luau! that should be a fun time! As you can see this tryke was a hit! I think everyone (even mom) took a ride on it!

I think those have been the highlights so far! But we have a fun summer coming up with weddings and camping and get togethers with friends! hopefully i will remember to blog more. Tomorrow is wedding #1 of the 3 we have from summer through to fall.
A pic of me and my girls....here is to a great summer!

Confessions of the unemployed...

So its been a little over a month since my last post and needless to say there hasnt been much to write about. Confession: staying home with no children is boring. There isnt much to do at home while all your friends are at work like normal people and Im stuck at home like a loser. I try not to be bitter and attempt to stay optimistic, but honestly its tough. I am bored. I get lonely during the day and to think it has only been a month. I already have a schedule: wake up, clean dishes from the night before, catch The View at 11, workout if Zumba isnt that night, eat lunch , watch a movie while cleaning or doing laundry, hop online, then catch either Oprah or Ellen at 4 and then start dinner. Yes, i generally do the same thing everyday. I try not to go to the "Plaza" in webster because i dont want to spend a lot in retail therapy, but I do plan on going to the library this week and them maybe going to Barnes and Nobles to sit and read magazines and have a coffee. Just some random stuff to do during the week so that it goes by quickly. I also (starting today) have started back in weightwatchers (kinda). I am not technically joining but i am going to try counting points and such to help me shed the pounds i have gained since the wedding and the changed birthcontrol (i think that was the reason for the weightgain).

Well, this certainly was a boring post to write, maybe the more i write, the better it will be :)

Yes, I am unemployed.

Confession: i got layed off. Yeah talk about hittin ya with a good confession. That makes up for all the crappy blogs i wrote the past few times. I found out hmmm almost 1hr and 45 mins ago. So i thought best to document this while its fresh. I wondered what its like to lose your job. It sucks. the instability the unknown future. Now i am not sad per say about working at Kodak. If i am honest, i am more than ready to go. And as i told mom, God is so faithful. I was ready to leave Kodak but He knows me so well, I wouldnt have left on my own. It would have taken hmmm a layoff ;) to move me into something new. He knows what i need and i fully am ready for a different company a more energetic company, a company with young people!! lol. So what did it feel like? Shock. I went into my bosses office before going to my desk because i had been out sick yesterday and wasnt sure how he was going to notify people so i went there first. Thank God. I couldnt have imagined having to go to my desk after that. But my boss made small talk and then i saw him reach for the manilla envelope and i knew. He was very kind and made a point of letting me know it was NOT a reflection of my work, but only of the fact that i had such few years here compared to the seniority that everone else had. I think we all knew, it was only a matter of time. And then came the tears. You just can't help it.I just kept thinking of being employeed and working for a full year and few months and now im gone. I interned, I suffered through the crap projects, i hung out and made friends. I can't help but think, "i wonder what they are thinking?" "How bad do they feel?" I know my boss felt bad, i thought he was gonna cry when i started crying. But i am optimistic (or atleast keep forcing myself to feel that way) about geting something new. I have my resume all set up and am ready to leave that stupid Kodak (:P) before they go bottoms up, which i am sure they will. So for those who read this, there are a few things i ask of you... 1. Prayer: for me, for me and alfie, for my job hunt. and 2. to keep your eyes and ears open for job possibilities. I am in Finance so anything related works for me :) Thanks guys. I am ok, and i am sure i will continue to be that way, it just currently sucks :P

Yeah I know, its been a while

Yes, its been a long while since i blogged. im ashamed, but it seems lately i have had a mighty large case of writers block. I just can't come up with anything interesting to write, let alone a good confession! But here i am stuck at work, feeling like i have the flu and thought i could scrounge up some tidbit of information. Plus if the blog sucks i can easily blame it on the fever i most likely have! It seems like after having rung in the new year i have also rung in cold season! I am generally a healthy person. College, a time when most get sick often, i got sick, hmm once maybe! Same thing in grad school. I don't ever recall getting the flu and at the worst i get sick in the winter and then i have seasonal allergies, no biggie. Well this year its been like WHAM cold city! I was sick for 2 weeks around christmas and new years and now sick again. its like what the eff?! Other than that there hasn't been too many things going on. Alfie and I usually end up watching some DVR'd episode, eating dinner then more DVR and then bed. I (thankfully) have started reading again and have a nice 5 book line up (yes 4 of which are the Twilight series).
Even though things seem to be hella slow and quiet, we do get the occasional craziness! Like next week. Alfie and I are both in Josh and Robin's Feb 7th wedding (woop day before my birthday) so that means craziness on Thursday (get the tux and try it on), Friday (rehearsal and dinner) and Saturday (wedding). OOO Confession: I LOVE doing peoples hair. It doesn't matter if its for a real event or just for something fun or just because we are all sitting around bored! And usually i have a good line up of friends who want me to do their hair for weddings they are in (cause i don't charge, but most usually give me a lil something for my time)but when it comes to doing my hair its either pay top dollar OR do it myself, so since i did it myself for christys wedding, i plan on doing it for this one. The dilema comes when its time to figure out what the heck style to do! Because the gown is very simple and elegant, i feel like i should do something sleek like a french twist or sleek down with a simple flip at the ends and clip a side up. Buuuut then part of me thinks i should do a variation of what i wore for christys wedding (all curls but kinda half up half down with the cute lil blump at the top, and i have a cute claw comb thing to put in the back. Ill prob just play around with it the morning of and see what looks good.

ok and thats the best you are gonna get with me feeling like this!

I love TV!!

Confession: I'll watch American Idol this season. Yeah i know, i say that annoyed and dissappointed in myself....and it was all because of 1 article: http://tv.yahoo.com/blog/when-idol-becomes-idle--77
I for one am sick of season after season watching the quality of winning contestants fall. Sure we had a few great runs with Kelly Clarkson (although where the heck is she now?), Carrie Underwood and the non-winning Chris Daughtry but other than that all we seem to get are the same thing season after season: crazy paula, mean simon and forgetable randy. Oh yeah and a bunch of one hit wonders who probably don't deserve to be televised. Close those horror shocked mouths! Yes i am speaking american idol blasphemy. And true, up until... hmmm... this season, you could easily find me glued to the TV every tuesday and wednesday night calling in my vote and hoping my favorite makes it into the next round, but come on....i think its time to end it while the fans want more. Take a year off, make us be bummed that its gone and then super excited when it returns. Make us look forward to watching it!!

But anyways back to the article and the reason I will be watching: changes. Apparently this season is not being produced by Nigel Lythgo, so a few changes are taking place and I for one am interested to see whether it is going to completely blow or breath new life into played out reality show. I am looking forward to see if the new judge is going to be good or simply a crowd pleasing paula. It will be interesting to see hollywood week turn into more than one week and enjoy picking favorites early on. I am a tad bit disappointed that less crappy singers will be let through. Come on if i gotta suffer through endless weeks of this ATLEAST make it worth it with people to laugh at! it will be nice that there wont be the definite 50/50 male/female split because lets face it, they kept out some good singers because they could only let 6 of each in. So hopefully this season will be a memorable one and not another few wasted weeks.

On another note I totally got suckered into watching Tool Academy on VH1. Alfie really wanted to watch it, thinking like me, that it would be a bunch of conceited douche bags all in a house causing trouble while trying to get reformed for their unhappy girlfriends. Kind of like a male version of Rock of Love Charm school. Now while i thoroughly enjoyed Charm school, i wasn't as excited for this Tool Academy. I just thought it would suck. Boy was I wrong!! It was really good and i felt so bad for some of these girls. The premis ended up being that the girls stayed on the show and worked with the guys on how to fix their relationship through a series of challenges that work on stuff the guys sucked at: communication, fidelity etc. So as part of it each couple has to go through therapy together. not bad. the catch is that its infront of the entire group. So in the first therapy session they all watched the entrance videos in which each person talked about their significant other: girls - why their man needed to be here and guys - about themselves and shadey douchey things (like cheating and using the girls) and then about their gfs. I could not understand why any of these girls stuck with the guys. They were rude and mean and 60% of them cheated on their gfs mutliple times by sleeping with other women. But anyways, i was totally hooked! This show wasn't making the player lifestyle appealing, it was being real and showing these guys what they really are....LOSERS! I will definitely be watching next sunday!

Merry Newlywed Christmas!

Confession: We survived our first Christmas! Phew! Those who have been married are totally nodding along with me right now thinking "yeah thats totally a biotch trying to coordinate schedules!" Well after making it semi-painlessly through thanksgiving I was not looking forward to trying to figure out where we were going and when. I was however, SUPER DUPER thankful that both our families were in rochester thus cutting down on any extensive traveling. So we decided Christmas eve this year would be spent with Alfies family and we would exchange gifts then after all attending the Christmas Eve service together. Ok no problem. Then christmas morning would be with just alfie and I and eventually wander over to my parents house (prob around noon) to exchange gifts with them. It actually turned out good. So we spent christmas day with my family doing the "white" thing of laying around enjoying our gifts.Even lauren popped over to hang out with her favorite white family and good ol eddie let her pretend she owned his new beemer! Then that following morning we trekked over to the LoMag household for breakfast (as only LoMags do)we had omlettes (Al totally spoils me and puts mushrooms in them! i love it) and breakfast sandwiches and toast and coffee and more! Its yum. We hung out there with the Briscos and then opened a few more gifts that didnt get exchanged christmas eve. Then Saturday we were back at the White house to spend time with my Aunt Dyann and Uncle Charlie who were in from Colorado and Titi Juni who came in from Binghamton. That night was sooooo much fun! We all had dinner and then laughed and dad and my aunts shared stories of the things they did growing up and the whippings that followed! It was quite obvious that "lil eddie" DEFINITELY could do no wrong!Their stories were great and we had a very fun time! That week flew by too quickly, probably because i was thinking about the schedule and when we had to be where instead of just going with it and doing my thing reguardless of where I was. Its ok, ill eventually get the hang of this multiple family christmas! I am just very blessed to marry into a family that enjoys being together as much as my family does and that they all love me (not that they wouldn't because duhh im awesome.) :) Thankfully the holiday went by wonderfully although FARRRR too quickly. It was a nice start to many more married holidays!!

Fyi - one month til the second most important day of the year...my birthday! WOOP WOOP! Let the countdown begin!

New Years Resolution

Well HAPPY 2009!! This wonderful new years was brought in with a nasty little bitch of a cold. yeah I have officially been sick for a full week. Its the cold that i think everyone and their mother (especially mine) had. Started with a soar throat last monday. Then progressed into a cough, headache, chills, stuffy nose, runny nose, sneezing and sinus cold. It was nasty. But I am pleased to say i am just starting to feel better (thanks to $30+ spent on meds and stuff).

Anyways back to the purpose of this post. Ahhhh the ever popular new years resolution. I wasnt even thinking about setting anything for the year until I heard Christys. I thought the catagories were so dead on that I would follow along and pick some. Christy did 3: Something she would try to do more of, something she would give up and something new. So here are going to be my versions of those three:

1. Something I am going to do more of: Devotions (stole from christy). I have a tough time doing devotions everyday. Im not sure why but I don't think I have anything that I do daily other than eat and even that varies on times and whether I get 2 meals or 3. But not being a creature of habit does make this one tough but I am going to really give it a try, even if it means varying up my devotion style to incorporate books or tapes etc.

2. Something I am going to give up: snacking after 7pm. Now this is going to be tough because I enjoy having a snack before bed and laying around watching tv just promotes eating! But i am going to try doing this because it seems to be a large (and growing) problem for me. I figure I can start with this and attempt to do better eating because homegirl will be PISSED if i gain back all that lovely weight i lost for the wedding!

3. Something new I am going to try: spend more time doing things that I REALLY enjoy. Now i know that sounds wayyy easy and probably a bit selfish but really think about how often in a day or week we get to do something that you really truly enjoy? Like i LOVE to read. But lately i havent devoted much time to picking up a book and working through it. Call it laziness or oversight whatever. Or like recently i have begun taking Zumba which I LOVE, maybe this year I will devote another night to it. I enjoy eating healthy. But i often dont do it because its easier to grab something quick from fast food or the pantry. This year I am going to spend time doing more that i enjoy and that is good for me!

So am I (and christy) the only ones to do new years resolutions? Or did anyone else get down to business and set some goals for the year?!
