Yeah I know, its been a while

Yes, its been a long while since i blogged. im ashamed, but it seems lately i have had a mighty large case of writers block. I just can't come up with anything interesting to write, let alone a good confession! But here i am stuck at work, feeling like i have the flu and thought i could scrounge up some tidbit of information. Plus if the blog sucks i can easily blame it on the fever i most likely have! It seems like after having rung in the new year i have also rung in cold season! I am generally a healthy person. College, a time when most get sick often, i got sick, hmm once maybe! Same thing in grad school. I don't ever recall getting the flu and at the worst i get sick in the winter and then i have seasonal allergies, no biggie. Well this year its been like WHAM cold city! I was sick for 2 weeks around christmas and new years and now sick again. its like what the eff?! Other than that there hasn't been too many things going on. Alfie and I usually end up watching some DVR'd episode, eating dinner then more DVR and then bed. I (thankfully) have started reading again and have a nice 5 book line up (yes 4 of which are the Twilight series).
Even though things seem to be hella slow and quiet, we do get the occasional craziness! Like next week. Alfie and I are both in Josh and Robin's Feb 7th wedding (woop day before my birthday) so that means craziness on Thursday (get the tux and try it on), Friday (rehearsal and dinner) and Saturday (wedding). OOO Confession: I LOVE doing peoples hair. It doesn't matter if its for a real event or just for something fun or just because we are all sitting around bored! And usually i have a good line up of friends who want me to do their hair for weddings they are in (cause i don't charge, but most usually give me a lil something for my time)but when it comes to doing my hair its either pay top dollar OR do it myself, so since i did it myself for christys wedding, i plan on doing it for this one. The dilema comes when its time to figure out what the heck style to do! Because the gown is very simple and elegant, i feel like i should do something sleek like a french twist or sleek down with a simple flip at the ends and clip a side up. Buuuut then part of me thinks i should do a variation of what i wore for christys wedding (all curls but kinda half up half down with the cute lil blump at the top, and i have a cute claw comb thing to put in the back. Ill prob just play around with it the morning of and see what looks good.

ok and thats the best you are gonna get with me feeling like this!

I love TV!!

Confession: I'll watch American Idol this season. Yeah i know, i say that annoyed and dissappointed in myself....and it was all because of 1 article: http://tv.yahoo.com/blog/when-idol-becomes-idle--77
I for one am sick of season after season watching the quality of winning contestants fall. Sure we had a few great runs with Kelly Clarkson (although where the heck is she now?), Carrie Underwood and the non-winning Chris Daughtry but other than that all we seem to get are the same thing season after season: crazy paula, mean simon and forgetable randy. Oh yeah and a bunch of one hit wonders who probably don't deserve to be televised. Close those horror shocked mouths! Yes i am speaking american idol blasphemy. And true, up until... hmmm... this season, you could easily find me glued to the TV every tuesday and wednesday night calling in my vote and hoping my favorite makes it into the next round, but come on....i think its time to end it while the fans want more. Take a year off, make us be bummed that its gone and then super excited when it returns. Make us look forward to watching it!!

But anyways back to the article and the reason I will be watching: changes. Apparently this season is not being produced by Nigel Lythgo, so a few changes are taking place and I for one am interested to see whether it is going to completely blow or breath new life into played out reality show. I am looking forward to see if the new judge is going to be good or simply a crowd pleasing paula. It will be interesting to see hollywood week turn into more than one week and enjoy picking favorites early on. I am a tad bit disappointed that less crappy singers will be let through. Come on if i gotta suffer through endless weeks of this ATLEAST make it worth it with people to laugh at! it will be nice that there wont be the definite 50/50 male/female split because lets face it, they kept out some good singers because they could only let 6 of each in. So hopefully this season will be a memorable one and not another few wasted weeks.

On another note I totally got suckered into watching Tool Academy on VH1. Alfie really wanted to watch it, thinking like me, that it would be a bunch of conceited douche bags all in a house causing trouble while trying to get reformed for their unhappy girlfriends. Kind of like a male version of Rock of Love Charm school. Now while i thoroughly enjoyed Charm school, i wasn't as excited for this Tool Academy. I just thought it would suck. Boy was I wrong!! It was really good and i felt so bad for some of these girls. The premis ended up being that the girls stayed on the show and worked with the guys on how to fix their relationship through a series of challenges that work on stuff the guys sucked at: communication, fidelity etc. So as part of it each couple has to go through therapy together. not bad. the catch is that its infront of the entire group. So in the first therapy session they all watched the entrance videos in which each person talked about their significant other: girls - why their man needed to be here and guys - about themselves and shadey douchey things (like cheating and using the girls) and then about their gfs. I could not understand why any of these girls stuck with the guys. They were rude and mean and 60% of them cheated on their gfs mutliple times by sleeping with other women. But anyways, i was totally hooked! This show wasn't making the player lifestyle appealing, it was being real and showing these guys what they really are....LOSERS! I will definitely be watching next sunday!

Merry Newlywed Christmas!

Confession: We survived our first Christmas! Phew! Those who have been married are totally nodding along with me right now thinking "yeah thats totally a biotch trying to coordinate schedules!" Well after making it semi-painlessly through thanksgiving I was not looking forward to trying to figure out where we were going and when. I was however, SUPER DUPER thankful that both our families were in rochester thus cutting down on any extensive traveling. So we decided Christmas eve this year would be spent with Alfies family and we would exchange gifts then after all attending the Christmas Eve service together. Ok no problem. Then christmas morning would be with just alfie and I and eventually wander over to my parents house (prob around noon) to exchange gifts with them. It actually turned out good. So we spent christmas day with my family doing the "white" thing of laying around enjoying our gifts.Even lauren popped over to hang out with her favorite white family and good ol eddie let her pretend she owned his new beemer! Then that following morning we trekked over to the LoMag household for breakfast (as only LoMags do)we had omlettes (Al totally spoils me and puts mushrooms in them! i love it) and breakfast sandwiches and toast and coffee and more! Its yum. We hung out there with the Briscos and then opened a few more gifts that didnt get exchanged christmas eve. Then Saturday we were back at the White house to spend time with my Aunt Dyann and Uncle Charlie who were in from Colorado and Titi Juni who came in from Binghamton. That night was sooooo much fun! We all had dinner and then laughed and dad and my aunts shared stories of the things they did growing up and the whippings that followed! It was quite obvious that "lil eddie" DEFINITELY could do no wrong!Their stories were great and we had a very fun time! That week flew by too quickly, probably because i was thinking about the schedule and when we had to be where instead of just going with it and doing my thing reguardless of where I was. Its ok, ill eventually get the hang of this multiple family christmas! I am just very blessed to marry into a family that enjoys being together as much as my family does and that they all love me (not that they wouldn't because duhh im awesome.) :) Thankfully the holiday went by wonderfully although FARRRR too quickly. It was a nice start to many more married holidays!!

Fyi - one month til the second most important day of the year...my birthday! WOOP WOOP! Let the countdown begin!

New Years Resolution

Well HAPPY 2009!! This wonderful new years was brought in with a nasty little bitch of a cold. yeah I have officially been sick for a full week. Its the cold that i think everyone and their mother (especially mine) had. Started with a soar throat last monday. Then progressed into a cough, headache, chills, stuffy nose, runny nose, sneezing and sinus cold. It was nasty. But I am pleased to say i am just starting to feel better (thanks to $30+ spent on meds and stuff).

Anyways back to the purpose of this post. Ahhhh the ever popular new years resolution. I wasnt even thinking about setting anything for the year until I heard Christys. I thought the catagories were so dead on that I would follow along and pick some. Christy did 3: Something she would try to do more of, something she would give up and something new. So here are going to be my versions of those three:

1. Something I am going to do more of: Devotions (stole from christy). I have a tough time doing devotions everyday. Im not sure why but I don't think I have anything that I do daily other than eat and even that varies on times and whether I get 2 meals or 3. But not being a creature of habit does make this one tough but I am going to really give it a try, even if it means varying up my devotion style to incorporate books or tapes etc.

2. Something I am going to give up: snacking after 7pm. Now this is going to be tough because I enjoy having a snack before bed and laying around watching tv just promotes eating! But i am going to try doing this because it seems to be a large (and growing) problem for me. I figure I can start with this and attempt to do better eating because homegirl will be PISSED if i gain back all that lovely weight i lost for the wedding!

3. Something new I am going to try: spend more time doing things that I REALLY enjoy. Now i know that sounds wayyy easy and probably a bit selfish but really think about how often in a day or week we get to do something that you really truly enjoy? Like i LOVE to read. But lately i havent devoted much time to picking up a book and working through it. Call it laziness or oversight whatever. Or like recently i have begun taking Zumba which I LOVE, maybe this year I will devote another night to it. I enjoy eating healthy. But i often dont do it because its easier to grab something quick from fast food or the pantry. This year I am going to spend time doing more that i enjoy and that is good for me!

So am I (and christy) the only ones to do new years resolutions? Or did anyone else get down to business and set some goals for the year?!
