Favorite Things...

Rain drops on Roses, and whiskers on kittens...
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens...
Brown paper packages tied up with string...
These are a few of my favorite things...

WHEN THE DOG BITES, WHEN THE BEE STINGS....

(i always feel like that part MUST be sung)

whooa...sorry got carried away in my S.O.M memory lane (thats Sound of Music for all you musical rookies). I love the Sound of Music... that maria...boy does she make me laugh :P (haha i know all you fans got that joke)

In the spirit of Maria with a little bit of Oprah splashed in (if i was a good blogger i would put the link to the SNL Oprah "Favorite Things" parady, buuuut im not, so i didn't.....but you can go youtube it. cause its hilarious) these are a few (10, ok, more than a few) of my FAHHHAVORIITEE THHHHIIINNNGGSSS.....

- wearing a nice dark pair of sunglasses...the kind with pratcically black lenses, for the sole reason that I can stare at ppl and they never know it!

- getting dressed up to go somewhere (even if its just church on Sundays)...I live for LOVE it!

- Snuggling with Colton. part of the reason he still sleeps with us, is because i can't bear to miss out on his adorable little snuggles all night. its the most precious thing alive. I practically kiss his little cheeks each time i roll over.

- a good hair day. I instantly feel amazing when i know my hair came together exactly as i hoped. Oh and extra points if the stars have aligned and my outfit rocks and my makeup came out flawless.... ahhh perfection!

- laughing with Alfie.... the things that come out of homeboys mouth...gets me all the time! And oooh when he really gets going! I end up just laughing at him laughing. (the other day he laughed so hard he cried, and i watched in SHOCK, as i have never seen alfie cry...it was like a sighting of a rare creature...)

- that moment in the holiday season where you instantly remember that same feelings from past childhood holidays....nostalgic fuzzies...

-the crispness of fall weather. Love me some sweaters, scarves, jackets and boots!

-pizza, wings and beer.... HELLO FOOTBALL SEASON! **id just like to take this minute to brag that i am currently tied for first place in my fantasy football league! Woo Hoo!

-finding a good blog. i love stumbling onto a new blog! its like finding a nugget of gold! Extra love if they are a frequent blogger and have oodles and oodles of posts to browse!

-quiet. there is something special when the house is quiet. When Colton is sleeping and Alfie is out and its just me. I can listen to music, paint my nails, dance around the house, clean, in blissfull quiet.

How about you?? in the spirit of the holiday season, what are 10 of your favorite things???

Do- Re- Me....

Confession: I am Beyonce... in the car

I know who isn't, right? But i would say my car singing turns into a mild performance up there with the best, like Lady Gaga (minus the drag-queen costumes)....complete with shoulder bobbing, head swiveling, hand tossing and intense focus on the road....duh cause i carry precious cargo, momma can't be rockin to hard into distraction! But i would say that my car-eoke performance (haha yeah just swapped Kar for Car...clever) would provide a great scene for those driving by. I know i love to see someone enjoying a good song as they pass. And come on when I'm in the car for 30 mins each way every day, i might as well find music that entertains me and wakes me up! Who is with me?? My recent song list has been a mix CD (yeah remember those) make by one of my besties, Lauren. Its her 80's mix and it starts it off with 3 of my all time "get me on the dance floor, Momma's had one too many beers" favorites: Push It (by Salt n Peppa... you think they are good you should hear Lor, Me and Em's rendition...far superior...used to be my ring tone...lol ), Living on a Prayer (by Hotty with a body (Jon) Bon Jovi) and Don't Stop Believing( by Journey). Repeat, and Repeat and skip ahead to "Pour some Sugar on Me" (AC DC...i think) skip again to "Take on Me". Makes for one VERY entertaining ride. Although i am sure no one is surprised. I mean as we all know, i LOVE to dance and i LOVE old school and pop music (anything with a beat) plus the fact that i have a mini ho-bag/stripper living inside me (which accounts for the quality of my moves....so there it is not my fault). Anyways, i am sure i am not alone out there, does anyone else rock a move while driving? Or add their own harmony/runs/ad-libs to their driving? I know Colton likes when I sing (likes even more if i dance...he usually laughs though so i take it as him saying "Momma ooo you soooo goood" not "Please. Mom. stop. You're awful" I only usually do my sing/dance thing in the car when I'm alone. I try to contain myself for Alfie. I like to keep things mysterious for him...ya know keep the honeymoon period lasting...lol Ill break this confession out in a year or so... make him feel like he is "still learning new things about me everyday" Anyways, next time a hot tune (O.M.G by Usher works well, or Judas by Gaga, which i mildly feel weird about liking after watching the video) channel your inner Kimi (or Beyonce) and belt those words out..or if you are like Christy and Lauren (and never know the words) make up your own!!!

Happy Singing :)

I guess Im just odd like that!

Confession: Im totally crushing on "More than a feeling" by Boston. Is that possible to crush on a song? Well I am! and as geeky as it sounds i realized i loved this song by hearing it on rock band! yeah I know. go ahead and throw out the loser cough on me. But seriously I think I could listen to it like 20 times in a row (im currently finishing number 3 and starting 4). I don't know what it is about the song...its not really the words cause they are kinda gay, but i think its the vocals and guitar, yes..sweet lord its the guitar! Its one of those songs that you think of when you imagine the ultimate concert. A song like this would be playing, everyone would be rocking out to it and for those 4 mins you are in a completely different place. Confession: i do that alot. and by "that" i mean hear a song i love and imagine the perfect setting for it to be played in. Kind of like my version of a music video! Here are some of my favorites:
**Dj Sammy's version of Heaven is my ultimate club song. Its "scene" would be a very trendy underground club where some lucky girl gets to dance with THE HOTTEST guy she has ever danced with :) but this in't just any club, i mean it is like the beautiful people club and UBER NYC. It is what every 18 year thinks a club is supposed to be like (and not dark, dirty, sticky and smoke-filled like they really are...lol)
**Don't stop Believing by Journey: this would be my bar song. Where you would be totally performing in a bar in like some dive bar band, complete with pink streaked hair and fishnets with cool holes in them. And the lead would not just sing the song, she would be PERFORMING it. And people would be raising glasses and drunk singing. yes thats exactly the setting :)
**American Girl by Tom Petty: This song plays out in my head exactly like the words. It starts with an american girl blonde running away in a convertable car with the top down along an ocean drive and goes through what she does in the lyrics of the song. Although I kinda think on the morbid side with this song, so its like an almost-suicidal-last-minute-decided-not-to kinda thing.
**Sarah Mcglauclin (sp?) The one that goes: "IIIIII feel so alive, this is all I wanna feel tonite..." Well lauren, em and I always laughed and said we would do a video for this one, so it plays out like that. Some girl would be arguing with her man on the phone, crying, begging him not to go and then slam the phone down and whip her head around to stare out the window onto the beach (at night) under a clear star filled sky while tears poured down her face(good one isnt it!)lol

This is really only effective if I haven't seen the video, which is why these are primarily older songs! Once i have seen a video thats what usually plays in my head (hence the reason why MJ isn't on this little list) But that is totally what goes on in my mind when Im listening to my ipod. I can't be crazy, there has gottaaaa be other people out there who do the same. right? If not, then i guess that just makes me way cool for being that creative and original 'eh?!

Happy Friday! and have a great weekend!
