Yo! I'm Back!!!

KI-MI’s back ALRIGHT….dum dum dum dum dum dum Oooh yeah. Oh. My. Stars She’s back again…. Blah blah blah… AM I ORIGINAL??? Yeahhhh. AM I THE ONLY ONE??? Yeahhhh. AM I SEXUAL….noooooo. (lol that’s clearly not how the song goes but oh well) Lol I was going to keep going with my rendition of the BSB hit. But I didn’t want to give you more than you could handle on a “I’m Back” post…So here we go…

Sooo... I have decideddddddd…..to follow Jesus…lol kidding, I mean I had, a long time ago, but that's not the point of this post, the “I have decided” reminded me of that old school tune. Phew, tangent aside (and second song for the post…craziness), shall we see what I decided??

I have decided this is The YEAR… OF THE HOUSE … (don’t you just hear an announcer on that? I do! Makes me snicker… wow tangent #3 and not even to the point of the post yet! WRANGLE YOURSELF IN GIRL! It’s the coffee I swear it’s the coffee!) So a fellow blogger sibling said I should do a New Year’s Resolution with something different each month. And I started a list dedicating a month for a person and getting all jazzy with spiritual stuff and then I nixed it (yeah I’m so going to hell for that right?? Lol kidding) I decided I should be doing that EVERY DAY not on a monthly focus (haha way to bring that on back and get a jewel on my crown for that one eh?) soo I decided to do something different. And then it came to me: The YEAR ( year year year)… OF THE HOUSE (house house house). In which I will dedicate each month to a home project-o. This could be fun right? I have Mr. I- can-make-stuff-with-my-hands-manly-man-man (Alfie) to assist me (although he doesn’t know about this yet) and Mr. I-can-derail-any-project-efforts-with-the-touch-of-my-pudgy-little-curiousity seeking-fingers (Colty) to make things a little tricky. So a pleasant mix of easy and tough! Should be good!

SOoo, what to put on the list? I thought of going by room buuut then I remembered that I am not a Real Housewife of Beverly Hills with that many rooms and thought of making the hallway a “room” or the foyer a “room” and I think it could be a go! So here goes the list by month….

January-
  • Upstairs hallway: Free hand the lyrics to My Redeemer Lives on the wall (yeah bold AND zesty, I know…risky too but I want something handwritten on the walls and that song is such a reminder. Out with the Old, in with the New...

Confession: Did i tell you I am moving??

Not far, only two roads over but more space, better space, and 100% ours :) Our current house is a packed state of unpacked chaios! 80% completely packed and 20% a hodge podge of things that can't be packed until last minute and things that are unique in size that packing would be tough! In short, its CRAZY at our house! The organizer in me has lists, a clipboard (yes a clipboard) full of different checklists... what to pack, what to clean, where things will go, who is helping etc etc etc! With that much organization, one would think this would be a cinch! Now lets add in Alfie. Hmmm, love him, but he is a tad bit "fly in the ointment" Example: 2 weeks ago, i packed up the entire bathroom and left the labled boxes in the hallway. Alf needed the toenail clippers, so frusteratedly (is that a word?) he asked where they were (i totally get that it sucks not being able to find things). I showed him the box and he gets them out, clips his toes and puts them back in the box. BUZZZZZ incorrect answer! he put them back in the DRAWER! THE DRAWER!! yes, that same drawer that I have had empty and its contents packed for two weeks. small example but you catch my drift? So it seems, that I will get one room packed, only to find that another room which had previously been packed is sliiiightly coming unpacked. Pretty frusterating. Thankfully i only have 2 more days and then its time to mooooove! As i planned for this move, I decided i need to figure out the style of the house. I think 290 was my learning house. I did different colors and had lots going on in terms of style. With Shanlee, id like to mature in my style and go a lot more classic, more simplistic. I love the pottery barn look and williams sonoma style, but i have no where near the income to actually purchase items from there, so I will have to bootleg it. Which is fine for me, if i can do it with clothes (buy cheap, but look expensive) I can do it with home decor. Easy peazy...or atleast in my head it is. I have a ton of blogs that have such great home DIY ideas and my list of things to try and furniture to refinish is nice and long. It makes the arrival of spring and its warm paint friendly weather something to look forward to.

There is something to be said about a house that you feel is your own and that you want to make into your own. 290 didnt feel like ours. We didnt want it to be ours, but for the time being it is where we stayed, knowing that when we found the right home we would leave. Maybe its new home owner optimism, but i love Shanlee. I could see us there for a good long time, forever maybe, if thats what the Lord has for us.

I am one to enjoy dancing and (its never too early to start) Colton and i will slow dance (yes, cheek to cheek) in his nursery or at Litas house if there is music on. I can tell on his face he is thinking "mom, your CRAZY" but whats a good mother if not willing to act a tad bit crazy for her babies, right?? The other day i had DVR'd some workouts on fittv and was trying them out, so i sat Colty in the Bumbo facing me so he could watch. And everytime I would do a move he would smile. SO there i am working out and home boy is smiling bigggg smiles. It then occurred to me that mayyybe he was laughing at me, not with me.LOL nothing like being taunted by your 3 month old, right? Although it did make me do the moves a litttttle bit bigger and a little big more flamboiant in hopes that Id be rewarded with a big droolly smile! Gotta love some baby motivation!

This is MY house...wait I mean OUR house :)

First, can i just say "YAY its friday!!" Thank you! - Ok, on to the blog. Confession: This "our" thing is pretty tough. As the weeks pass, Alfie and I have been working on putting our home in order. (can you believe its already been 3 months!!) Only problem is what I like is often WAY different than what he likes.

I like....

traditional

neutrals

classic

timeless

quiet

He Likes....

crazy

bold

modern

busy

loud

This makes for decorating our home an interesting task. For example, just the other day we were FINALLY decorating a wall in the living room with a shelf (because we are having a whole bunch of guys over saturday who are going to honestly care if there is a shelf on the wall. mmmhmmm yes you feel me?!) Anyways I was cool with the shelf up and putting stuff that we have on if for now just to see what we like. Alfie, on the other hand, wanted to practically drill everything in place and never ever ever move it. LOL. Poor thing hasn't realized my crazy obsession with changing a room around. So ok i was able to convince him to let me think on things before we start drilling holes in the wall for stuff to hang. And ofcourse I came up with a better idea the next day. Which needless to say has not been implemented. Good/cost effective decorating takes time! He isn't quite sure of it but I think it will look better than what is there now. I always chuckle to myself as I wonder what the house would look like if i let him decorate as he wants. Although I do feel amazingly blessed that he likes to have an imput. So many guys could careless when their wife askes which color duvet to put on the bed. Alfie (as long as you catch him in the right mood) will think about it and answer (he chose red for this week). I am very blessed. I just struggle with having to incorporate enough of his stuff so that 1. he feels comfortable in his house, and 2. that he keeps giving me an input when i ask.

Confession: Alfie is as weird as I am. LOL yeah I know! Who woulda thought its possible. But anyways, yesterday alfie and I went to Kohls to do a bit of shopping (his giftcard was burning a hole in his pocket and so was my paycheck!) and we were in the home section way in the back looking at frames and they were playing Rihannas "Please Don't Stop the Music" (yes that is a totally rip off of MJ's Wanna Be Startin Something) when I started walk dancing in the aisle next thing you know alfie and I busted out the robot and were "roboting" to the song, right there in the middle of the aisle at Kohls. LOL that is what I love about him!

So enough of that. Whats up for this weekend??
Actually nothing for tonight. Probably just some cleaning for tomorrow, in which we are having people watch the UFC pay per view fight. Yeah I. am. so. excited.....can't you tell? But thats ok, cause I totally get to hangout with Sara for dinner and some quality Color Me Mine time! I can't wait. I think I am going to paint something christmassy for the house. And in the morning I am doing hair for my second set of sisters! Lauren and Shauna for a wedding they are going to! I haven't had a chance do do updos in forever, that I am really looking forward to it. Pluuus im getting a free breakfast out of it, because they loooove my work (and im doing it free..lol). So yes I am so ready for my weekend of YAY to start. I probably will leave work at 3 to enhance the YAY factor!!

Have a good weekend all!!
